ECLECTRIC ART STYLE
Eclecticism Art means "consciously selected and put together". By integrating artists from past centuries into new paintings or combining architectural styles.
It could also be eclecticism if you combine the designs of different eras in your home. Like the baroque cupboard with the gothic chest, the art nouveau mirror next to it, the art deco sideboard, the rustic wallpaper with the 1960s curtains. Later, Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring and Jeff Koons began to incorporate everyday objects into their works of art. When I studied at the art academy in Dresden, I was called KATHA KANDINSKY or that my painting had parallels to Picasso.
That annoyed me. When I started painting again in 1995, I copied from fashion magazines. Today my style is transferred to numbers, signatures, fashion brands, credit card chips, fonts, stencils made of flowers and bees. Everything that makes the viewer pause and smile.
What was the artist thinking?
